Alan Bartlett and Sons currently farms over 5,500 acres of carrots and parsnips and aims to be 100% self-sufficient in UK root vegetables.
Our large and varied growing area, together with our ability to harvest, process and pack our produce means we simply don’t face the availability issues experienced by some other suppliers. Plus we have long-term relationships with overseas resources, should we ever need to call on them.
This is one of the reasons why we can have such a bold and ambitious mission statement:
‘To continue to invest in our business and its people, thus enabling us to grow and deliver 100% customer satisfaction on availability, quality, service and price while ensuring sustainability and profitability for the company and the environment.’
Constantly innovating
Of course, delivering 100% satisfaction allows for no complacency. We are always looking for ways to improve the quality and freshness of our produce, challenging our costs and overheads to ensure that we remain competitive, and supporting our clients by suggesting innovations to improve their market share.
Always giving more
We’re always happy to go the extra mile. And as this quote testifies, even the snow can’t stop us:‘Sincere thanks for the outstanding job that you have done for Tesco and its customers throughout the period of exceptionally cold weather. The work of your team in managing supply, production and distribution has been tremendous, and I know there are many stories of exceptional personal endeavors to make this happen… please pass on both Tesco’s and my own personal thanks to your team.’
Colin Holmes, Fresh Food Commercial Director, Tesco.
It says something for our spirit - and our people - that in the snow-bound pre-Christmas months of 2009, we did not drop a single case; in fact, we delivered extras.
