Alan Bartlett and Sons is proud to support the local economy by employing up to 500 people at peak times; the vast majority at our factory site in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.
The agency supplying our temporary staff has an office on site and works closely with our in-house human resources team, mirroring our personnel procedures to ensure best practice.
Proper jobs for real people
Many of our permanent staff members have been with us for years. We know them all individually, listen to them and try to fit in with their personal priorities – taking the view that people work best when they are able to do what they’re good at in a way that suits them. This means morale is high.
Safety on site is paramount. Everyone is given a full induction in everything from our jewellery policy to fork lift awareness. And we have an in-house training facility for food hygiene awareness, and health and safety practices.
Improvements at the factory are ongoing, with special attention being paid to the locker room a new canteen with facilities and a larger prayer room.
Training
Staff training and personal development is a key part of the company’s strategy and we continue to invest in our business and its people, thus enabling us to grow and deliver 100% customer satisfaction on availability, quality, service and price whilst ensuring sustainability and profitability for the company and the environment. All of our staff receive training on food safety, personnel hygiene and health & safety as part of the company’s induction programme; in addition there is an ongoing documented refresher training programme in place for personnel working in the key food safety areas throughout our business.
