  • Terry Hawthorn, director

Terry is the key contact for all of our supermarket clients.

Terry joined the Bartletts in 1991, becoming a director of Alan Bartlett and Sons in June 2009, having spent the previous nine years as operations manager. Prior to that, Terry had made himself indispensible to the Bartletts in a variety of capacities - taking responsibility for production, packaging, buying, transport and sales.

Terry began his career at Sainsbury's as a tradesman, progressing through their trainee management scheme to become produce manager. He then spent five years working for produce companies, mainly in sales and account management, dealing with major retailers and trading with wholesale markets and the food processing sector.

Nothing fazes Terry. He knows the business inside out and is liked and trusted in equal measure.

  • Michael Graves, sales and procurement manager

Michael is the key contact for secondary (non-supermarket) sales and for buying-in additional raw material for mainstream production.

Michael’s family have been in the carrot business since the 1940s. As a teenager, he spent school holidays hand-digging ‘roadways’ though the carrot fields, making way for the carrot harvester, and the tractor and trailer that would run alongside it.

Michael joined his family’s vegetable business in the mid seventies, after completing his education. He was Chairman of the British Carrot Growers Association from 1988 to 1991, and a member of the (N.I.A.B.) carrot variety panel during the 1990’s.

In 1999, after a brief period in the food processing industry, Michael joined the Bartletts. And today, he is very much part of our own ‘extended family’.
